• We will legislate for harsher penalties for irresponsible and abusive landlords. Renters must have individual thermostat control in their own units.  If no thermostat is available, a landlord must supply sufficient climate control apparatus’.  Air conditioners in the summer, and space heaters in the winter.

• New Era Affordable Housing Project: luxe, green, renewable energy housing built for working-class, lower wage earning New Yorkers. These will not be “your grandmother’s housing projects”! The run-down, bare, penitentiary-like housing projects of yesteryear will be replaced with extremely durable, low cost, high-end finish-like materials. They will be flush with green and renewable energy features as well as the most up to date tech. We will work with local artists to help build architectural features that will rival those of picturesque resorts. They will also feature a new standard of square footage. No more shoebox apartments. Just because you aren’t wealthy, doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve an expansive living space. We will also staff these communities with security, therapists, counsellors, and property management.

• We will purchase abandoned and dilapidated properties and partner with community rebuilding experts to train contractors to fix rundown homes, and rebuild neglected neighborhoods.

• We will enforce the repair of 432 Park Avenue and hold negligent luxury developers accountable.

• Build out Manhattan’s coastal infrastructure to protect against storm surges.  This will be a decades-long project, but we must begin to protect New York City from the incoming dangers of the worsening climate crisis.

• We will continue to expand a focus on areas with inadequate cell service and broadband access across New York State.
